PDF Dance Theater was founded by Julija Kaulinytė and Emilia Kumpulainen in Barcelona, 2018, as a mock-company. Having started off as a contemplation on absurdity, bureaucracy and commercialism in the dance industry, which often favors correctly submitted applications over a human-artist, PDF Dance Theater has grown into a living, breathing, international and idealistic simulation of a project-based contemporary dance company with a voice of its own.
PDF Dance Theater consciously builds a nurturing environment that encourages individual creativity, research and methods to involve holistic approaches in artistic processes. The topics of the creations investigate the shadow, our suppressed emotions, the complexity of a human existence within the society, and the relationships with oneself and the others.
While living in different countries, Emilia and Julija produce their separate work, but regularly get together to create under the name of PDF Dance Theater. They are constantly expanding their network of like-minded artists and seek to bring more opportunities to passionate creators. This time they are joined by Selene Tognoli.
