    NOËLIA

    Courtesy of Artist

    Fag Town String Band

Courtesy of: Fag Town String Band

Ihre Musik ist dabei auch ein Mittel, Themen anzusprechen und Geschichten zu erzählen, an die sich eben nicht jeder so heranwagt, wie der „bunch of queers living in Berlin but from elsewhere who play old-time folk, country punk, murder ballads, songs about alienation, addiction and how the fascist are going to lose.“

    4 years of dub intervention

To celebrate 4 years of dub intervention residents Ed2000 and Educador are joined by a very special guest, Dj Eric Prince from Harlem, New York City.

Eric Abramson (AKA Eric Prince, DJ Prince E) was first musically influenced by his grandmother who played Calypso and Motown, and his uncle Antonio Abramson who played percussion for Mongo Santamaria and his son Monguito. He experienced the beginning of the Hip-Hop movement first hand as he grew up in Harlem. In 1975 he started making pause mix tapes. His first residency was at an after hour space called Ja-Gazzy which they soon found out was owned by Harlem Gangster Nicky Barnes.

Eric started doing gigs on his own in other underground Harlem spaces such as The Tradewinds, This Bitter Earth, and The Uptown Underground.  At the age of 17, he was one of the top underground DJ's in Harlem. He was a member of one of many crews called "fantastic four" at the time, and he was the Dj for King Tim who went on to record the first ever hiphop track on vinyl for the Fatback band. Eric was also asked to do studio work for some of the local record label owners such as Bobby Robinson (Enjoy Records), Paul Winley (Winley Records), and Oscar Richardson AKA Flaming King (PMP Records). Eric cites his first time of hearing Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage as having completely redefined his understanding of what a Dj is.

During the 90's Eric taught and mentored other DJ's and kept producing local artists. During this time he was introduced to Bobby Davis Jr, the founder of the first ever African American music Dj pool, out ot the Bronx in i978, Spinners Unlimited Recording Enterprises (S.U.R.E.). Eric suggested to Bobby that SURE could be moved online and secured the name surerecordpool.com for Bobby. In 2004 The online version of SURE Record Pool was up and running. It has serviced DJ's from around the world ever since. Eric took over the day to day operations of SURE to honor the memory of Bobby Davis who passed away in december 2010, which he still does to this day.

Eric Prince still performs at occasional special events. He has also been doing a musical podcast for over ten years which can be located at http://ceedoggpresents.blogspot.com/

We are understandably immensely gratefull that he has agreed to be our special guest at 4 years Dub Intervention.

Corin Arnold, Ed2000, has been Djing for 40 years.. He has fullfilled well over 4000 dj bookings in dozens of countries during that time. He currently has a regular show at Cashmere Radio Berlin, and is resident Dj in Gretchen and Der Weisse Hase where he showcases the Dangerous Drums collective events that he co-runs, and Eschschloraque where he presents his Dub Intervention project.

Eduardo Delgado Lopez (Educador) provides unique music sets ranging from Hip Hop, Dub, and Jungle to Punk, Latin and Funk. He has played with everyone who is anyone, but is especially known for playing bass with the Caspar Brötzmann Massaker. His radical, minimal and sequential playing seems just to be made for Mark Boombastik’s sharp beat(boxing). As a DJ he serves a wide range of Hip Hop, Dub, Jungle, Punk, Latin and Funk. He has been playing in clubs, such as, Toaster or WMF, and the bass also with Reality Brothers.

    Grigor Kanev

    Foto: Mona Calin

nspired by the constant development of electronic music, Grigor seeks a way to deliver quality music at two different frequencies. On the A-side, he plays microhouse and breaks while using bubbly, eminently percussive and dreamy tracks. On the B-side, something completely different can be heard. From post-punk and electronica to EBM, Grigor tries to find the balance in between and bring it all together.   Being based in 3 different cities over time, he was getting inspiration from various communities and cultures, which helped him to further enrich his knowledge and perception of music.

    Electrofluid

    Courtesy of Artist

Baud is a DJ and musician mainly commuting between Pisa and Berlin who is much influenced by the electronic music scene--but not only this! In her sets, she mixes a large range of different rhythms—often with acoustical instruments including the e-piano and synths, in order to create a multi-colored atmosphere that evokes varied feelings. From playing harder edge Techno with remixes of favorite rock songs to experimental tracks and beats, she collects daily and produces, aiming to cross barriers of redundancy and find her own unique way of expression. Along with co-organizing music festivals such as Fusion while following the music scene in Berlin, her home base since 2015 has been at the Eschschloraque Rümpschrümp, recognized as one of the best and oldest artistic platforms of Berlin. It’s here that she learned how to DJ and raise her music knowledge to a higher level. As she doesn't see a barrier between music and social engagement, she often plays and co-organizes antiracist and queer events. It's for a queer night, when she had to associate a genre to her name, where she invented the term "Electrofluid", which she kept as the perfect description of the music she's playing.

    Manu Louis

    Foto: Arnau Pascual Ledesma

Manu Louis is Belgian, lives in Berlin and escapes from winter in Spain. He travels with a village of electronic instruments and video projections from pop stars or animals to deliver passionate performances that eventually switches gears into an impromptu discotheque that gets the audience moving.
His music mixes high and low culture to create provocative and decontextualized juxtapositions. His general blueprint remains the same throughout all of his efforts, but the ingredients he uses may vary: from dissident chanson française, genial dilettante, avant-garde composer, new beat, old hit, art-pop & hard bop.
Cream Parade, his new album (Igloo Records) is a disoriented walk led by synthetizers and follows Kermesse Machine (2017) his first album . The last two years he performed at over 200 festivals and clubs across Europe and Asia.
Apart from his solitary activities, ultimately Manu also has composed music for the 30 piece ensemble Orchestra Vivo, L’Orchestre de chamber Liège, Plastic Fanfare (a group of 200winds & percussions), Spanish artist Escif and chinese band Dawanggang.
